The small print, plainly.
Privacy, accessibility, complaints and the charity's details, in one place.
Privacy
This website does not collect any personal information. It has no forms, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking.
If you ring the centre, the volunteers use your details only to reply to you and to help with what you asked about.
The website uses Google Fonts for its typefaces, so your browser asks Google's servers for the font files, which shares your IP address with Google. See Google's privacy policy.
Links to Google Maps, Apple Maps, SPCA, Ashburton District Council, Inland Revenue and Charities Services take you to their own websites, which have their own privacy policies.
Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this website. It has been built to:
- work with a keyboard, with a skip link, visible focus outlines and a menu that opens and closes with Enter, Space and Escape;
- respect your device's reduced motion setting: the moving photographs, the scrolling timeline and the animations all hold still;
- keep text readable, with dark text on pale panels and labels on photographs set on solid backgrounds, aiming for WCAG 2.2 AA contrast;
- describe every meaningful photograph with alternative text, and hide decorative layers from screen readers;
- provide the accounts chart as a table as well;
- work at small screen sizes and when zoomed.
If something does not work for you, please tell us by ringing 03 308 4432, and say which page and what went wrong. We will do our best to fix it, and to give you the information another way.
Complaints and concerns
If you are unhappy with something the centre has done, or have a concern, please tell us first. Ring 03 308 4432, and the committee will look into it.
If your concern is about serious wrongdoing by a registered charity and it has not been resolved, you can raise it with the regulator, Charities Services: see making a complaint about a charity.
To report animal cruelty or an animal in distress, contact SPCA. See Found an animal?
Photographs
The photographs on this website show New Zealand landscapes and animals in general. They are illustrative: they do not show the centre, its buildings or animals in its care.
